Holidays and Working Practices

In an effort to be a bit more organised, and to keep my clients informed of when I'm going to be unavailable, I am going to publish future holiday dates here.

Currently I am going to be unavailable for work, and probably unreachable via email or telephone on the following dates in addition to weekends and Bank Holidays:

  • 19th - 23rd March 2018
  • 28th - 29th May 2018
  • 21st - 27th July 2018
  • 23rd - 24th August 2018
  • 25th December 2018 - 3rd January 2019

Last updated 14th January 2018

Email Autoresponder

When I am away from the office for more than 24 hours I will usually turn on my email autoresponder which should provide details of when you might expect a response. The autoresponse only acknowledges receipt of your email, it does not mean I have read your email.

Email Responses

I generally reply to emails within 24 hours of receiving them - unless my auto responder informs you that I am unavailable.

You can always leave an answerphone message on my office landline - I tend to respond to answerphone messages within 24 hours of returning to work.

Weekends and Evenings

Being a busy father of four I have plenty to do outside of work and try as much as possible to confine work to office hours. I will sometimes respond to emails on an evening or over a weekend, but it should not be expected that I am available at these times.

My office phone number is the only number I routinely give to clients and it will not be answered if I am not physically in my office and available to take the call.

Should something awful happen to my server, Bytemark (my hosts) in York will be automatically alerted to the fault and will provide a solution as quickly as possible under the terms of my service agreement with them.

If an individual website or email account(s) become unavailable and it is not within Bytemark's remit to provide a solution I will fix the fault as quickly as possible - whether I am at my desk or not.
